Dad’s Army is coming to the big screen as a string of brand new actors are set to take over the iconic TV characters for the first time.
Filming is underway on the new movie and Universal Pictures have released the first two images - showing off the central characters for the first time.
Toby Jones will take on the central role of Captain Mainwaring, while Bill Nighy, Michael Gambon, Daniel Mays, Blake Harrison, Bill Paterson, and Tom Courtenay will star as Sergeant Wilson, Private Godfrey, Private Walker, Private Pile, Private Frazer, and Lance Corporal Jones.
Catherine Zeta Jones, Mark Gatiss, Sarah Lancashire, and Alison Steadman will complete the very exciting cast list.
Dad’s Army will see Oliver Parker back in the director’s chair for the first time since Johnny English Reborn: he has brought us movies such as St Trinian’s and Dorian Gray in recent years.
Set in 1944, the movie will follow the Walmington-on-Sea home guard as the Allies are poised to invade France and defeat the German army.
No official UK release date for the movie has yet been released, but it looks like it will be hitting the big screen next year.
