Christopher Nolan says that Matthew McConaughey has a 'phenomenal, charismatic presence' in new film Interstellar.
Nolan is set to return to the director's chair later this year with the new sci-fi film; McConaughey is set to lead an all-star cast.
Interstellar will be his first big screen outing since he scooped a Best Actor Oscar for Dallas Buyers Club, and it looks like we are going to get another fantastic performance.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the director said: "'Mud' showed me a side of Matthew's capabilities that I never knew was there. It was a transformative performance.
"From when I first saw it, I had an inside track on how great he could be.
"I needed someone who is very much an everyman, someone the audience could experience the story with.
"He's just a phenomenal, charismatic presence in the movie. His performance is shaping up to be extraordinary."
Interstellar is one of the most highly anticipated sci-fi films of 2014; it will be Nolan's first film since the success of The Dark Knight Rises.
Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Wes Bentley, Casey Affleck and Michael Caine will all join McConaughey on an impressive cast list.
Interstellar is released 7th November.
