Christopher Eccleston says he wasn't daunting following in the footsteps of Tom Hiddleston as the latest Thor villain.
Eccleston is the big new addition to the Thor: The Dark World cast list as he takes on the role of Malekith: a Dark Elf who wants to plunge the universe into darkness.
The British actor was on the red carpet in Leicester Square last night for the world premiere of the film, and said that it was a 'pleasure' to take on this role.
Speaking on the red carpet the actor said: "It wasn't daunting. It was a pleasure. This film has got probably three villains - myself, Tom and Adewale [Akinnuoye-Agbaje], who plays Algrim/Kurse.
"My threat is very separate. Tom is the threat within the family and I'm the threat from outside."
Thor: The Dark World is a mix of darkness and humour, but Eccleston reveals that there is no humour in his role.
He added: "It all ended up on the cutting room. They said, 'Continue to be mean, Eccleston. We want a naughty elf.' "
Thor: The Dark World sees Chris Hemsworth return to the title role, while Tom Hiddleston, Natalie Portman, Idris Elba, Anthony Hopkins and Kat Dennings are all also reprising their roles.
Thor: The Dark World is released 30th October.
