Christopher Eccleston admits that he tends to watch non-genre films and so had to do a 'bit of homework' when he landed the role of Malekith in Thor: The Dark World.
Eccleston is one of the new faces on the cast list for Thor: The Dark World as takes on the role of revenge raged baddie in the new Marvel film.
The British actor admits that he is not a big blockbuster film watcher and so had to thrown himself into that genre.
Speaking to Collider the actor said: "I had to do a bit of home work if I'm honest. The films I'll go and see are probably more non-genre films, so I did a lot of homework."
However, he believes his talented co-stars and director Alan Taylor helped him loosen up and get into character.
"I didn't do a huge amount of homework and I had a script and I have got an imagination and a great director and great actors."
Thor: The Dark World has topped both the U.S. and UK box office and has already grossed in excess of $342 million worldwide.
The movie sees Eccleston star alongside Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins and Natalie Portman as they reprise their roles of Thor, Loki, Odin and Jane Foster.
