Chris Pratt has revealed that James Gunn's pitch for Guardians of the Galaxy 2 brought 'tears to his eyes.'
This week director Gunn revealed that he has completed the first draft of the highly anticipated sequel - which is set to hit the big screen in 2017.
Pratt is set to reprise the role of Peter Quill in the film, and reveals that he is eager to get underway on the film and bring Gunn's vision to life.
Speaking to Digital Spy, Pratt said: "What I will say is that his pitch and his idea legitimately put tears in my eyes. It is so good. It's so good. And I cannot wait to get started on it and I cannot wait for people to see what he's gonna to pull off with the second movie.
"It's gonna be so, so big and so good. From what I understand, they were like - they heard it at Marvel and they said nothing. They were like, perfect. There was no micromanaging of the idea. They just loved it so much that they didn't have a note for it. It's going to be remarkable."
Guardians of the Galaxy hit the big screen for the first time last year and went on to be one of the biggest critical and commercial hits of 2015. It is currently the fourth highest grossing Marvel film of all time behind Avengers Assemble, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Iron Man 3.
Gunn is set to return to the director's chair for the new film, which is just one of the Marvel sequels set to hit the big screen over the next couple of years; Captain America: Civil War, Thor: Ragnarok, and Avengers: Infinity War are also on the horizon.
As for Pratt, he is set to return to the big screen next week as he leads an all-star cast in Jurassic World, which is set to be one of the biggest films of the summer and of 2015.
Pratt is currently working on a remake of The Magnificent Seven, which sees him team up with Denzel Washington, Ethan Hawke, Vincent D'Onofrio, and director Antoine Fuqua.
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is released 28th April 2017.
