Chris Pine says that we will really go on a journey with Kirk and Spock in Star Trek Into Darkness as we see these two characters and their friendship grow.
Pine is back as James T. Kirk in the second Star Trek movie while Zachary Quinto will be reprising the role of Spock once more.
And Pine says that he really enjoyed working with Quinto and these two characters couldn't be more different.
Speaking to Flicks and Bits the actor said: "That was awesome, I love working with Zachary. Spock is the man of logic and of reason, and then you have Kirk who is a man of passion and emotion and that follows his gut - whether it’s right or wrong, moral or immoral.
Kirk is also... I think in the beginning he displays an incredible amount of selflessness, but there’s a self-serving quality to Kirk, he kind of wants to prove that he’s the best and that he can get away with all this.
"Also, that he can 'win', there’s a need to win with Kirk. And the journey of these two characters, neither of them can exist without the other."
This is the first Star Trek movie since the franchise was rebooted back in 2009 and sees J.J. Abrams back in the director's chair.
Star Trek Into Darkness kicks off an action packed year for Pine as we are also going to be seeing him take over the role title role in Jack Ryan.
Star Trek Into Darkness is out now.
