Chris Hemsworth says he wants to slow down his acting career for a while so he can spend time with his family.
Hemsworth became a father for the first time last year as his wife Elsa Pataky save birth to daughter India Rose; she is now pregnant with their second child.
2013 has been a busy year for the actor with success in the likes of Rush and Thor: The Dark World, which followed on from 2012 hits Avengers Assemble and Snow White and the Huntsman.
Hemsworth said: "I've been working solidly for a couple of years now, to the point where I have to slow down and spend some time with my family.
"You spend so long having your hand up, saying 'C'mon, c'mon - pick me!' there is a fear of saying no to things. It's bred into you. I get s**t sent to me and I think, ' I should probably just take this.'
"But now I try to say, 'Hold on - do you even like it? ' I do have a little control now. That's the transition - I'm not at the mercy of someone else so much. That's just as scary as it is liberating."
The actor has already completed work on Cyber and is currently working on In the Heart of the Sea - a film that sees him reunite with filmmaker Ron Howard.
And there will be no immediate rest for Hemsworth as he is set to star filming on The Avengers: Age of Ultron next year: a film that will see him reprise the role of Thor.
