Chris Evans says Captain America: The Winter Solider really addresses the idea of where Steve Rodgers fits into the modern world.

Evans will be reprising the role of Captain America this spring for the second standalone movie for this character. He woke up in the 21st Century at the end of The First Avenger, and was thrown right into the action in Avengers Assemble.

This time around, we are going to see this character trying to settle into the modern world and find his place and purpose in it.

Speaking to Empire, Evans said: "We haven’t really explored his adjustment period. In The Avengers we had so many characters you have to address, you don’t really have time to sit with any single one.

"In this movie there’s a lot going on for Steve. He’s trying to acclimatise to the modern world. I don’t want to give too much away, bit it’s about trying to find how he fits.

"He’s a man from the 1940s He’s just woken up. For everybody else, it’s been a slow burn to get to 2014. But for him, suddenly there’s the internet, cellphones and The Patriot Act.

"The technology’s new to him and so is the access the government has to that technology.”

The Winter Soldier comes two years after the success of The First Avenger, but this time around, it is Joe and Anthony Russo in the director’s chair.

The movie will see Evans reunite with Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson, who will be returning as Black Widow and Nick Fury.

However, there are a couple of exciting new additions to the cast list as Anthony Mackie is on board as the Falcon, Frank Grillo is set to play Crossbones and Robert Redford is Alexander Pierce.

The Winter Solider is the first of two Marvel movies that will be hitting the big screen this year, as it will be followed by Guardians of the Galaxy.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is released 28th March.
