X-Men: Apocalypse is one of the 2016 comic book movies that I cannot wait to see and it looks like director Bryan Singer has delivered another gem.
The X-Men movies have been some of my favourite comic book films of recent years - I think X2 is still my favourite - and X-Men: Apocalypse looks set to be the biggest and darkest film in the series so far.
I am thrilled to see Bryan Singer back in the director's chair for the fourth X-Men film of his career and the first since he steered Days of Future Past to both critical and commercial success.
There are now only a handful of weeks to go until the film hits the big screen and the awesome new trailer has arrived - this really is going to be one of the biggest films of the year. Check it out:
X-Men: Apocalypse sees good take on evil with James McAvoy (Charles Xavier), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Sophie Turner (Jean Grey), and Tye Sheridan (Cyclops) on one side and Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Oscar Isaac (Apocalypse), Alexandra Shipp (Storm), Olivia Munn (Psylocke), and Ben Hardy (Angel) on the other.
Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel's X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign.
As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.
So far, the X-Men franchise has enjoyed huge success at the box office and X-Men: Apocalypse is on course to be another huge hit. I really cannot wait to see what Singer and co deliver this time around.
X-Men: Apocalypse is released 18th May.
