Charlie Hunnam has revealed that his version of Arthur is going to be 'a little bit rough around the edges.'
Hunnam is set to take on the legendary character as he teams up with director Guy Ritchie for the first time for Knights of the Round Table: King Arthur.
Filming is well under way on the new film and Hunnam graces the new front cover of Entertainment Weekly as we get a closer look at the actor in the role.
As well as some new images, Hunnam has also talked about the kind of Arthur that we are going to meet in the film. Speaking to EW he said: I think where the pitfall has often been is trying to make King Arthur bland and nice, and nice and bland. The two qualities make rather compatible bed companions. Unfortunately, they're not interesting to watch. Luke Skywalker was always the most uninteresting character in Star Wars because he's the good guy. Good guys are boring.
"[Arthur's] a little bit rough around the edges, but he's basically a survivor. He's a hustler. He's a street kid. There's definitely a harder edge to him than people would imagine. It's sort of classic Guy Ritchie stuff."
While little is known about the film's plot is has been rumoured that Knights of the Round Table: King Arthur could be the start of a potential six film franchise.
However, Hunnam is not the only face to watch out for on the cast list as Katie McGrath, Jude Law, Eric Bana, and Astrid Bergès-Frisbey are on board as Elsa, Vortigern, Uther Pendragon, and Guinevere.
We haven't seen Hunnam on the big screen since Pacific Rim back in 2013 but he is set to return later this year with Crimson Peak - a gothic horror that will see him reunite with director Guillermo del Toro. Crimson Peak will be their second film together and will see the actor star alongside Mia Wasikowska, Tom Hiddleston, and Jessica Chastain.
As for Ritchie, before we see Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur hit the big screen, he will be back later this summer with his version of the Man From U.N.C.L.E., which is based on the sixties television series of the same name.
Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur is released 22nd July 2016.
