Neill Blomkamp is set to return to the director's chair with a fifth Alien film.
There is still no word as to where this new Alien film will fit into the already established timeline - will in continue on from movies we have already seen? Or will it forge a new and different path?
It looks like we are going to have to wait some time before we get these questions answered, but Blomkamp has taken to his Instagram account to released a new piece of concept art. Underneath the image, Blomkamp wrote '#alien going very well. Love this project'
The image shows the characters of Ellen Ripley and Corporal Hicks - played by Sigourney Weaver and Michael Biehn - as well as some new faces and characters.
Blomkamp is no stranger to the sci-fi genre with movies such as District 9, Elysium, and Chappie already under his belt. This Alien project would only be the fourth feature film of Blomkamp's directing career.
Despite the appearance of Ripley and Hicks in the artwork, there is still no word as to who will be on the cast list when the cameras finally do start rolling.
The new Alien film is expected to hit the big screen in 2017.
