Charles Dance admits that he was 'wary' of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies at first because he was no familiar with Seth Grahame-Smith's novel.
The actor was on the red carpet in London earlier this week for the UK premiere of the Burr Steers-directed novel, which sees the actor take on the role of Mr Bennet.
Grahame-Smith's novel is inspired by the Jane Austen classic and Dance believes that fan of the original will not be offended by the latest adaptation.
Speaking on the red carpet, Dance said: "I was a bit wary to begin with because I didn't know about the book; then I realised that it was a best-seller in America.
"I don't think that even the most ardent fans of Jane Austen will be offended by it because it is done with great affection and it's very entertaining. We had an awful lot of fun making it and I hope everybody that watches it has as much fun as we did."
The movie sees Dance star alongside Sally Phillips, Lily James, Bella Heathcote, Suki Waterhouse, Ellie Bamber, and Millie Brady, who take on the roles of Mr Bennet, Elizabeth, Jane, Kitty, Lydia, and Mary Bennet.
Dance returned to the small screen over the festive period as she starred in And Then There Were None, which was based on the Agatha Christie book. The actor will be back in cinemas with Despite The Falling Snow and Me Before You.
Me Before You is based on the book of the same name by Jojo Moyles and has been adapted for the big screen by the author herself. Sam Claflin and Emilia Clarke are also on the cast list.
The actor is currently filming Underworld 5 with Kate Beckinsale and director Anna Foerster. The movie will see him reprise the role of Thomas.
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is released 11th February.
