Channing Tatum says he learnt to wrestle for new film Foxcatcher.

Tatum will take on the role of Olympic wrestler Mark Shultz in a new biopic from director Bennett Miller.

And while Tatum and Mark Ruffalo trained for the film, the actor reveals they both left the shoot with injuries.

Speaking to the Press Association, the actor said: "We wrestled for about five or six months before. I think Mark and I both have cauliflower ear as take-home presents from that, and bad knees."

Tatum and Ruffalo will play wrestling brothers Mark and Dave Shultz.

Dave Shultz was killed by schizophrenic John duPont, and Mark goes looking for justice.

Steve Carell take on the role of duPont in the film, and his performance gained huge praise when the film was screened at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this week.

Foxcatcher is the third film for Miller, following on from Capote and Moneyball.

Tatum has a busy summer ahead of him, as he is set to star in 22 Jump Street and Jupiter Ascending.
