Channing Tatum says that 22 Jump Street was a reward for a year of tough movies.
Tatum will reunite with Jonah Hill for 22 Jump Street, which comes two years after the success of 21 Jump Street.
And while Tatum admits that comedy is still tricky, it was a project that he was really looking forward to working on.
Speaking to Total Film, the actor said: "Last year was a pretty heavy year of work for me and Jump Street was always the light at the end of the tunnel.
"That's not to say it was without its challenges - comedy is really hard.
"You have to give as much as you possibly can because you don't know what's going to end up working in the edit - something that's funny on the day could completely bomb once you put it in the film."
"But it was always something that I was looking forward to after some very physical, painful movies."
22 Jump Street is the first of two summer movies that we will be seeing Tatum star in: Jupiter Ascending is also set to hit the big screen in the coming weeks.
Foxcatcher is also on the horizon as Tatum teams up with Steve Carell and Mark Ruffalo. The movie was a critical smash when it was screened at the Cannes Film Festival last week.
22 Jump Street is released 6th June.
