Chadwick Boseman says everyone addressed him as ‘Mr Brown’ on the set of Get On Up.
Boseman is set to take on the role of soul legend James Brown in the new biopic from director Tate Taylor.
And the actor reveals that he had a process of getting in character, and that he would remain in character for long periods of time while on the set.
Speaking to Empire, the actor said: "There’s a process of getting into him each day. Once I start I don’t completely leave him until we’re done.
"So everyone on set addresses me as Mr Brown and I treat them like Mr Brown would. Probably a little nicer. I find myself saying things I wouldn’t normally say.
"I give credit to Tate for allowing me to be that way. He’s the director, but Mr Brown would have an opinion."
Boseman has seen his star rocket in the last twelve months with roles in the likes of 42 and Draft Day, but Get On Up is set to be the biggest role of his career to date.
He is joined by an all-star cast as Nelsan Ellis, Dan Aykroyd and Viola Davis are also on board.
Get On Up is released 26th September.
