Black Panther is one of the new characters that we are going to be introduced to over the next few years, and this is set to be the biggest roles of his career to date as he tackles the big budget blockbuster for the first time.

The actor admits that he is looking forward to tackling and exploring this character as well as how this movie is going to fit into the bigger Marvel universe.

Speaking to Logan Lerman for Variety's series of Actors on Actors, Boseman said: "I'm excited about it too! I'm beyond excited. It's like to the point where you feel numb and then your mind goes off into, 'Ok, how do I achieve that?'

"But I think the great thing about it is that this actual character is unique in a lot of ways. I can't think of another character that's like the leader of a nation and is a superhero at the same time. There are a lot of different ways this story can go, you know, and ways that they can do it, so I'm really just excited about how it fits into the bigger picture of what Marvel is doing."

However, we are going to have to wait until 2017 before the movie hits the big screen, but the character is expected to make an appearance in another Marvel film before starring in the solo movie.

Between now and when Black Panther is released at the end of 2017, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War, Doctor Stranger, Guardians of the Galaxy 2, and Thor: Ragnorok, so we could be seeing this character sooner than we think.

Boseman is the only actor who is currently on the cast list for Black Panther and the director is also to be announced.

We last saw Boseman on the big screen earlier this autumn in Get on Up - in which he takes on the role of James Brown - and saw the actor give another terrific central performance. He grabbed everyone's attention last year when he starred as Jackie Robinson in 42, and ever since he has been a star on the rise.

He has already completed work on Gods of Egypt, which is the latest movie from director Alex Proyas and will see Brenton Thwaites, Gerard Butler, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Geoffrey Rush, and Rufus Sewell also star.

Black Panther is released 2017.
