Carol leads the London Critics' Circle Film Awards with seven nominations.
Carol is in the running for Film of the Year while Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara both picked up Best Actress nominations. The duo is nominated alongside Brie Larson, Charlotte Rampling, and Saoirse Ronan for their performances in Room, 45 Years, and Brooklyn.
45 Years picked up six nominations - it is great to see it in the mix after being snubbed by the Golden Globes last week. Mad Max: Fury Road, The Revenant, and Steve Jobs were also the big winners as they picked up five nominations a piece.
Tom Hardy was the big winner on the acting side as he picked up nominations for Best Actor (Legend), Best Supporting Actor (The Revenant) and British Actor of the Year for all of his film work in 2015.
The Best Actor category is another tough one as Hardy is nominated alongside Tom Courtenay (45 Years), Paul Dano (Love & Mercy), Leonardo DiCaprio (The Revenant), and Michael Fassbender (Steve Jobs).
Hardy has been nominated alongside Benicio del Toro (Sicario), Oscar Isaac (Ex Machina), Michael Keaton (Spotlight), and Mark Rylance (Bridge of Spies).
But Film of the Year is one of the most exciting categories as it features ten movies. Nominated alongside Carol is 45 Years, Amy, Inside Out, The Look of Silence, The Martian, The Revenant, Room, and Spotlight.
London Critics' Circle Film Awards also shines a light on British talent with Michael Caine, Idris Elba, Colin Farrell, Michael Fassbender, and Tom Hardy nominated for British Actor of the Year.British Actress of the Year is also a loaded category as Emily, Blunt, Carey Mulligan, Charlotte Rampling, Saoirse Ronan, and Kate Winslet all received nods for their work.

The nominations were announced at The May Fair yesterday by rising star Florence Pugh, who was surprised that she was nominated herself as Young British Performer for her work in Carol Morley's drama The Falling. The 17th January ceremony will again be hosted by actor-filmmakers Steve Oram and Alice Lowe. Kenneth Branagh will receive the Dilys Powell Award for Excellence in Film.
