Carey Mulligan thinks her singing in 'Inside Llewyn Davis' is "hilarious".
The Oscar-nominated beauty - who stars alongside Oscar Isaac and Justin Timberlake in the Coen brothers' new musical drama - had to sing for her latest role and she admits the experience was rather humorous.
Speaking to BANG Showbiz at the film's premiere, which was part on BFI London Film Festival, in London's Leicester Square on Tuesday (15.10.13), she said: "It was great. It was kind of hilarious in the end, I was really nervous about it and then we started doing it and it was, kind of, slightly comedic or meant to be. So we kind of embraced that side of it, really ... Sort of mimicking musicians from that time. That was really fun and it was good in the end. We had a good time."
The actress admits she didn't have singing lessons prior to accepting the role, despite being married to a musician in Marcus Mumford.
She laughed: "No, no singing lessons. 'Winging it' is what they call it!"
Meanwhile, Mulligan's co-star Isaac - who plays titular musician Llewyn Davis - says preparing for his role was "intense".
He revealed: "I had about three months. [I practised] every day and then [played] in New York in little clubs in front of people. It was very intense, I didn't know how to play that style of guitar. So what I don't have in talent I make up for with obsessiveness, so I just obsessed in learning how to play the music."
