Carey Mulligan has compared her character of Daisy Buchanan in The Great Gatsby to a Kardashian.
The actress will be returning to the big screen next month as she teams up with director Baz Luhrmann for an adaptation of the F. Scott Fitzgerald novel.
Mulligan says that Buchanan is a woman who is constantly on show and feels like she always has to perform.
Speaking to US Vogue the Carey quoted: "'I seem always curiously interested in myself, and it's so much fun to stand off and look at me'... That's a direct Zelda quote.
"It's that kind of feeling: 'I'm-so-little-and-there's-nothing-to-me, watch-me-have-nothing-to-me'.
"She feels like she's living in a movie of her own life. She's constantly on show, performing all the time. Nothing bad can happen in a dream.
"You can't die in a dream. She's in her own TV show. She's like a Kardashian."
The Great Gatsby sees Mulligan team up with Leonardo DiCaprion, Tobey Maguire and Joel Edgerton as she works with Luhrmann for the first time.
This is Mulligan's first movie in a year - Shame was the last thing we saw her star in - but she has also completed work on Inside Llewyn Davis.
Inside Llewyn Davis is the latest movie from Joel and Ethan Coen and sees her star with Justin Timberlake.
