Cara Delevingne is set to star in the 'Fifty Shades of Grey' movie.
Delevingne 20 made her big screen debut as Princess Sorokina in 2012 romantic drama movie 'Anna Karenina' is keen to expand her acting repertoire and has already auditioned for a "secondary part" in the film adaptation of E.L. James' bestselling erotic novel.
A source said: "Cara is a frontrunner for a part. She's desperate to get the gig and has always said that she wanted to be taken seriously as an actress.
"She loved her small role in 'Anna Karenina' with Keira Knightley last year - so she jumped at the chance to audition."
Cara is expected to play a "strong role" in the movie, and is thought to stand a great chance of landing the part because she is already friends with director Sam Taylor-Johnson.
The source told the Sun newspaper: "Cara became close friends with Sam's husband Aaron Taylor-Johnson when they filmed 'Anna Karenina' together. She is a global icon now and a good actress as well and Sam wants her in the movie - though which part exactly hasn't been established.
"Her sisters know Sam and it's all a close English public school clique, so she's well-placed for a decent role.
"Her agent has also been talking to Kelly Marcel, the screenplay writer and, if needs be, a strong role will be written in for her."
Emma Watson, Mila Kunis, Alexis Bledel and Kristen Stewart have all been linked to the lead female role of protagonist Anastasia Steele, who embarks on a raunchy relationship with her S&M-loving boss Christian Grey in the book series.
Several actors have been touted to portray Christian, including Kristen's ex-boyfriend Robert Pattinson, but 'Vampire Diaries' actor Ian Somerhalder is said to be the favourite to take on the part.
'Fifty Shades of Grey' will be released on August 1, 2014.
