Captain America: The Winter Soldier has blasted through the $500 million mark at the global box office.
The Winter Soldier is the second stand-alone film for Captain America, and sees Chris Evans reprise the title role, while Anthony and Joe Russo take over the director’s chair.
This first Marvel movie has been met with rave reviews from the critics - we loved it here at FemaleFirst - and fans have flocked to the cinema to see this latest and action packed instalment.
The movie has now grossed $502 million worldwide, and is currently sitting at the top of both the U.S. and UK box office.
The Winter Soldier has out performed Captain America: The First Avenger, which took $370 million by the end of its theatrical run.
Marvel movies have always performed well at the box office, but since the billion-dollar success of Avengers Assemble, the movie has really raked in the money.
Last year, Iron Man 3 was the only film to break $1 billion, while Thor: The Dark World out performed the first Thor movie.
Filming is already underway on Avengers: Age of Ultron, and it has been announced that a third Captain America film is already in the pipeline.
The movie will hit the big screen in May 2016, and will go head to head with Batman vs. Superman, which is being released on the same day.
As for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the movie has only been on general release for a few weeks, and is set to do even better at the box office.
