Bryan Singer says that X-Men: Apocalypse will contain more ‘mass destruction’ than we have ever seen in an X-Men movie.
Singer is set to return to the director’s chair later this year with X-Men: Days of Future Past, but he is already looking ahead to the next movie in the popular X-Men franchise.
It was announced earlier this year that X-Men: Apocalypse had been given the green light. Singer is co-writing the script and has given us a hint of what we can expect.
Speaking to Total Film, the director said: "Apocalypse' will also have more of that mass destruction that 'X Men' films, to date, have not relied upon. There's definitely now a character and a story to allow room for that spectacle.
"We're going to deal with the notion of ancient mutants - the fact that they were born and existed years ago. But it will be a contemporary movie - well, it'll take place in the 80s ... The 80s is a period now - it's hard for me to believe that."
It has not yet been announced who will be on the cast list for the movie as whether we will see a mix of stars like Days of Future Past: the new film sees actors from First Class star alongside those from the original X-Men trilogy.
Simon Kinberg, Dan Harris and Michael Dougherty are all also on board to pen the script for Apocalypse.
X-Men: Apocalypse will hit the big screen in 2016.
