Bryan Singer has compared some of the themes in X-Men: Apocalypse to TV series Game of Thrones.
Singer is set to return to the director's chair for the latest X-Men movie, which is set to be one of the biggest and most anticipated films of 2016.
It is the fourth X-Men film for Singer and the first since he enjoyed critical and commercial success with X-Men: Days of Future Past two years ago.
Singer reveals that he is a huge fan of Games of Thrones and says that the younger characters in X-Men: Apocalypse are going through a similar experience to those in the hit TV show.
Speaking to Yahoo Movies, the director said: "I'm a huge Game of Thrones fan... There's a crossover between X-Men and Game Of Thrones, they're both about a younger generation finding their powers, finding out who they are, and what their place in the world is.
"I like how the show's about different groups of people moving towards a common goal. They don't even know if that's the right goal, who wants to sit on that uncomfortable throne? I don't! Everyone in King's Landing is miserable. But for some reason they want that power."
Sophie Turner has made her name on the television show as Sansa Stark and she is one of the big new additions to the cast list of X-Men: Apocalypse. Turner is set to take on the role of young Jean Grey
Oscar Isaac, Olivia Munn, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Tye Sheridan, and Alexandra Shipp as they take on the roles of Apocalypse, Psylocke, Nightcrawler, Cyclops, and Storm.
They will star alongside franchise regulars Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, and Nicholas Hoult, who are back as Mystique, Magneto, Charles Xavier, and Beast.
We have been treated to a series of great X-Men movies over the years but X-Men: Apocalypse is set to be one of the biggest.
X-Men: Apocalypse is released 19th May.
