Bradley Cooper says that he will only move into directing when he feels he has found a project that gives him a reason to step behind the camera.
Cooper has already had a terrific 2013 picking up a Best Actor Oscar nomination and he has been tipped to make the movie into filmmaking.
And Cooper admits that he hopes to have the courage to follow in the footsteps of his The Place Behind The Pines co-star Ryan Gosling - who begins work on his directorial debut later this year.
Speaking to Total Film the actor said: "I would only do something where I believe there’s a real reason why I should direct it, whether I write it or not.
"I have such tremendous respect for directors, and I know Ryan (Gosling) is about to direct his first movie and I think that the most honourable thing for him to do with the story he wants to tell. I hope to have the courage to do that myself one day."
The Place Beyond The Pines is the next movie that we will see Cooper star in as he works alongside fellow Oscar nominee Gosling for the very first time.
And it is a busy year for the actor as he will also be reprising the role of Phil in the third and final Hangover movie this summer.
Cooper picked up his Oscar nod for his terrific performance in Silver Linings Playbook and he has just begun work on a currently untitled movie that sees him reunite with director David O. Russell and Jennifer Lawrence - Christian Bale, Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner make up the rest of the cast list.
The Place Beyond The Pines is released 12th April.
