Brad Pitt has been linked to new film  'The Operators'.

Pitt will work alongside 'Animal Kingdom' helmer David Michod, who will write and direct the project which is based on Michael Hastings' book of the same name, according to reports.

Pitt will also produce with his Plan B banner - which worked on '12 Years A Slave' and 'World War Z' - opposite Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner.

It has already been a great year on the producing side for Pitt, as he picked up a Best Picture Oscar for 12 Years A Slave.

Hastings' book accounts for the rise and fall of General Stanley McChrystal, who was Commander of US Forces Afghanistan (USFOR-A), after the journalist's month-long stay in Afghanistan.

The book was written following an article written by Hastings', published in Rolling Stone, which led to McChrystal's resignation in June 2010.

'The Operators' is backed by Plan B, New Regency and RatPac Entertainment, and it was announced by Brad Weston, New Regency's president and CEO.

Pitt will next hit the big screen in World War II drama 'Fury' later this year, where he will star opposite Shia LaBeouf and Logan Lerman.
