We are big fans of Hemsworth here at FemaleFirst, and Blackhat will see the actor team up with director Michael Mann for the first time.
Mann has been behind some terrific films during his career, such as Heat and The Insider, but this is his first directorial outing since Public Enemies.
Blackhat is an action/crime/drama that will see Hemsworth take on the central role of Nicholas Hathaway. He is joined on the cast list by Viola Davis, Tang Wei, and Wang Leehom.
Set within the world of global cybercrime, Legendary's Blackhat follows a furloughed convict and his American and Chinese partners as they hunt a high-level cybercrime network from Chicago to Los Angeles to Hong Kong to Jakarta.
We are going to be seeing plenty of Hemsworth on the big screen next year, as Blackhat is not his only project that we are looking forward to.
The actor is set to reprise the role of Thor in Avengers: Age of Ultron - which will no doubt be one of the most anticipated and successful movies of the year.
Hemsworth has also completed work on In the Heart of the Sea, which will see him reunite with Rush director Ron Howard.
