Scarlett Johansson has revealed that Black Widow is one of her favourite roles.
Johansson was introduced as Black Widow back in Iron Man 2 in 2010 and has since reprised the role in Avengers Assemble, Captain America: The Winter Solider, Avengers: Age of Ultron and Captain America: Civil War.
And the actress says that it has been an 'interesting journey' and has enjoyed developing this character with every film.
Speaking to Michigan Avenue about the film, Johansson said: "I really like playing Natasha, playing the Black Widow [in The Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Captain America: Civil War].
"It's been an interesting journey, to take a character and grow it over these years, and peel the layers back and be able to, as you do in life, grow with this person. It's a character that's really enigmatic and has an amazing origins story, so there's a lot for me to play off of."
Ever since we saw Black Widow in Avengers Assemble, there have been calls for her to land her own solo film... sadly, there is still nothing on the schedule.
While Kevin Feige says that Marvel is committed to a solo film for the popular character, it doesn't look like that will be happening anytime soon.
Johansson reprised the role earlier this year in Captain America: Civil War, which is the second time that she had appeared in the franchise.
She is expected to star in Avenger: infinity War, but no cast list has officially been announced. The movie will see Johansson reunite with Civil War director Anthony and Joe Russo.
As for Johansson, she has just finished filming a live-action adaptation of Ghost in the Shell and has lent her voice to upcoming animation film Sing.
Earlier this month, it was announced that Johansson was the tenth highest-grossing actor of all time and the only actress to feature in the top ten.
