Kevin Feige says that the Black Panther script is going to be ready 'very soon.'
Black Panther was introduced in Captain America: Civil War and filming on the solo film is set to get underway at the beginning of next year.
Chadwick Boseman is in the title role while Ryan Coogler will be directing a Marvel film for the first time. And the director, who has enjoyed huge success this year with Creed, is also having a hand in penning the screenplay.
When asked by Collider how soon the script would be finished, Feige said: "Very soon, very soon. We have a number of writers on it, including Ryan Coogler who is also directing. He's working on the draft right now.
"I think between now and the end of the summer there'll be more casting announcements. We start filming at the very beginning of next year."
Boseman is the only actor who has been officially confirmed on the cast list but it does seem likely that we will see Andy Serkis reprise the role of Ulysses Klaue, a character that we were introduced to for the first time in Avengers: Age of Ultron last year.
Black Panther is set to hit the big screen in 2018 and will be one of three Marvel films that year; the other two being Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 and Ant-Man and the Wasp.
Captain America: Civil War kicked off Phase 3 of Marvel films last week. We are going to see Doctor Strange. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Thor: Ragnarok released before the already highly anticipated Black Panther movie.
Personally, I am looking forward to seeing Coogler take up the director's chair for what will be the biggest film of his directing career to date. He has already brought us Fruitvale Station and Creed and I cannot wait to see him put his stamp on this character.
Filming on Black Panther will kick off at the beginning of 2017.
