Civil War will introduce us to the character of Black Panther - played by Chadwick Boseman - for the first time.

Civil War's screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely have talked about the character and reveal he now has a much bigger role in the film that intended.

Speaking to Screenrant, they said: "Originally, T'Challa and T'Chaka were just the representatives of Wakanda, sort of the voice of other countries in the world going, 'You people are out of control', and then to be aggrieved by possible Bucky actions.

"When things maybe looked like we weren't going to get Spider-Man, it was like, 'Let's put the costume on that guy!' And then he became so integral to the story as it evolved that once Spider-Man came back, we didn't take him out. So, it was a problem that created a really nice situation."

Boseman is not the only new face on the cast list as we are going to see Tom Holland take on the role of Spider-Man or the very first time.

Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr, Don Cheadle, Sebastian Stan, Jeremy Renner, Anthony Mackie, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, and Paul Rudd are also on board.

Captain America: Civil War is based on the popular Civil War story arc from the comic books and will kick off Phase 3 of Marvel films.

It is the first of two Marvel movies to hit the big screen this year and will be followed by Doctor Strange in the autumn.

As for Boseman, he has made quite a name for himself in recent years with roles in 42 and Get on Up. However, this is set to be the biggest role of his career and a solo movie is on the horizon for this new character.

Captain America: Civil War is released 29th April.
