Idris Elba is delighted that Luther is being recognised worldwide.
The British actor took home the Golden Globe for 'Best Performance by an Actor in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television' for his central role in the drama.
He saw off competition from Hugh Bonneville, William Hurt, Bill Nighy and Dominic West to get his hands on the gong.
Speaking to MTV News the actor said: "This is great. We made our little show in London, and now we're getting this worldwide recognition of it. Love it."
Over the last twelve months Elba and mixed his TV work with movies moving from Luther to big screen blockbuster Thor.
And we will be seeing him back on the big screen later this year as he teams up with Nicolas Cage for Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.
He has already completed work on Prometheus and is currently filming Pacific Rim with Guillermo del Toro.
