Big Hero 6 Stays Top Of UK Box Office

Big Hero 6 has remained at the top of the UK box office for the second week - once again holding off the challenge from Kingsman: The Secret Service.

Big Hero 6 - which is in the mix for the Best Animated Feature Oscar at the end of the month - is the latest offering from Disney, which continues to win over audiences.

The movie grossed a further £2.5 million over the weekend to hold on to the #1 spot and hold off Kingsman: The Secret Service - which continues to pile on the pressure at the top of the box office.

Kingsman: The Secret Service was the second non-mover this week, as it stayed put at two. The latest offering from director Matthew Vaughn is both a critical and commercial hit and took a further £2.1 million this weekend.

The highest new entry inside the top ten this week was Shaun the Sheep Movie, which opened at number three. This is the first solo movie that we have seen the popular character star in, and it took just over £2 million in its opening weekend.

Jupiter Ascending was also new in at four - this is the latest offering from director Andy and Lana Wachowski - while American Sniper was down two places from three to five.

Selma has been whipping up a storm in the U.S. - it is in the running for the Best Picture Oscar - and it opened at number six. The Theory of Everything was down three places at seven, while Into The Woods was a two place faller this week at eight.

Taken 3 was this week's biggest faller as it dropped four places from five to nine. The Interview was the fourth and final new entry as the controversial film opened at number ten.
