Wong will coincidentally play the character Wong in the Marvel Studios superhero film, which sees Benedict Cumberbatch take on the titular role as the surgeon-turned-sorcerer supreme Stephen Strange.

The story follows Strange's journey from New York surgeon to protector of the Earth after he is set on a quest to find a mystical healer.

Once he finds The Ancient One - to be portrayed by Tilda Swinton - Strange learns how to keep the planet safe against mystical and magical threats.

Wong - who also is the superhero's helper who looks after his home, aides him in matters of the occult and protects his physical body from attack when he's astral projecting his mind elsewhere.

The character Wong first appeared in the comic book series 'Strange Tales' in issue 110 back in 1963.

The cast also includes Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Mads Mikkelsen, Michael Stuhlbarg and Amy Landecker.

Scott Derrickson is directing and 'Doctor Strange' is scheduled for a November 2016 release.
