Benedict Cumberbatch admits that he was 'terrified' to watch his new movie for the first time.
Cumberbatch returns to the big screen this week with his new political thriller The Fifth Estate: a movie that sees him take on the role of Julian Assange.
The Fifth Estate tells the story of the rise of WikiLeaks and Assange.
And while Cumberbatch says he was worried about seeing the movie, he is thrilled with how the film has turned out.
Speaking to Independent Radar magazine: "I'm thrilled with it. I'd seen it in the States and I was terrified.
"I cannot watch myself for the first time, especially playing someone who is so removed from me - because of everything, the appearance, the accent. Everything about him is different."
"I think [director Bill Condon] has made a beautiful film - it's incredibly balanced. It's entertaining as well as intriguing.
"And what it should do is ignite a debate - that's exactly what should happen. And hopefully it will do that."
Cumberbatch is one of the most in demand actors in Hollywood at the moment, and he has a whole host of exciting projects on the horizon.
He is set to voice the character of Smaug in Peter Jackson's The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, which is released this December.
Cumberbatch is also set to join the ensemble cast of August: Osage County and 12 Years A Slave: both movies have been tipped as Oscar contenders.
The Fifth Estate is released 11th October.
