Benedict Cumberbatch says he is 'full of admiration' for Julian Assange.
The British actor is set to play Assange in new film The Fifth Estate, which follows the creation and rise of the WikiLeaks website.
Speaking to Rolling Stone the actor said: "Is he a hero? In many ways. I think that's part of what I admire. He turned an idea into a reality - one that's still affecting our lives and the way we view mainstream media."
"What he's shaken up is fascinating. It's an ongoing debate - we'll see how it pans out - but I'm full of admiration of him."
The Fifth Estate sees Cumberbatch star alongside Daniel Bruhl, Anthony Mackie and Stanley Tucci, while Bill Condon is in the director's chair.
The film has been screened at the Toronto International Film Festival, where Cumberbatch's performance is being praised.
The Fifth Estate kicks off a busy period for the actor as we are going to be seeing him in 12 Years A Slave, August: Osage Country and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.
The Fifth Estate is released 11th October.
