Benedict Cumberbatch has reportedly signed on to star in The Yellow Birds.
The Yellow Birds will see David Lowery return to the director's chair, and is an adaptation of Kevin Powers' novel.
The story is set during the Iraq war, and will follow two young soldiers who face the horrors of the war together.
Cumberbatch will be joined by Tye Sheridan and Will Poulter on the cast list.
Cumberbatch looks set to play a sergeant in the film, who will take the two young soldiers under his wing whilst in Iraq.
The Yellow Birds will be the first film for Lowery since Ain't Them Bodies Saints. There is no word yet when production will get underway.
As for Cumberbatch, we will not see him on the big screen until The Imitation Game: which will be released this autumn.
He will take on the role of Alan Turing in the new biopic, a movie that is already being tipped as an Oscar contender.
Cumberbatch has also completed work on The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies and Magik.
