Benedict Cumberbatch

Benedict Cumberbatch has ruled out the possibility of appeared in Star Wars: Episode VII and playing Doctor Who.

Cumberbatch is one of a whole host of names linked to Star Wars: Episode VII, having worked with J.J. Abrams on Star Trek Into Darkness.

It is believed that he was also in the running to take over from Matt Smith, when he stepped down as the Doctor last year.

Speaking to the Radio Time, Cumberbatch has revealed that he would not be appearing in either.

He said: "I'm never gonna play the Doctor - and nothing to do with the Whoniverse.

"I would've liked a part in JJ's new Star Wars but it won't happen, sadly."

We have already seen Cumberbatch appear in 12 Years A Slave and August: Osage County so far this year, as well as reprise the role of Sherlock Holmes for the BBC.

And we are going to be seeing plenty more of him, as he has completed work on Magik, The Imitation Game and The Hobbit: There and Back Again.

The Imitation Game will see him take on the role of Alan Turing in the new biopic - a role and a film that is already being tipped as one to watch for awards season.
