Ben Stiller says that he was thrilled that his son was able to see him get his hands and feet cast outside the Chinese Theatre.
Stiller was given the Hollywood honour earlier this autumn, and was joined at the ceremony by his wife, and two children.
It was the first event that Stiller's son Quin, 8, had attended that was linked to the actor's work.
Speaking to People magazine the actor said: "My last moment of bliss was at my hand and footprint ceremony. It was the first time my son had come to an event.
"And I looked at him running around and talking to these women reporters. He was batting his eyelashes, and they were fawning all over him. It just made me happy."
Stiller is back on the big screen this Boxing Day with his new film The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.
The movie will see Stiller star as well as return to the director's chair.
Stiller has also hinted that he may begin to focus more on directing that acting as he moves forward in his career.
