Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice is already one of the most talked about and highly anticipated movies of 2016.
There's still nine months to go until the film finally hits the big screen and we have already been treated to teaser posters as well as the first trailer.
Now, the official synopsis for the film has arrived... while it doesn't give too much away it does give us a taste as what we can expect from the film:
Fearing the actions of a god-like super hero left unchecked, Gotham City's own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis's most revered, modern-day saviour, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it's ever known before.
Dawn of Justice will see Henry Cavill return to the role of Superman for the first time since Man of Steel, while Ben Affleck will take over the role of Batman for the first time.
This will be the first time that we have seen Batman on the big screen since The Dark Knight Rises and we already know that we are going to see the character make an appearance in Suicide Squad next summer.
There are plenty of new faces to watch out for as Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Jesse Eiseberg, and Jeremy Irons are on board as Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Lex Luthor and Alfred.
However, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, and Laurence Fishburne will be back as Lois Lane, Martha Kent, and Perry White.
Dawn of Justice will see Zack Snyder back in the director's chair as he returns to the Superman franchise he kicked off back in 2013.
Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice is released 25th March 2016.
