Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has stayed at the top of the UK box office for a second week - despite a sharp slump in ticket sales.

Dawn of Justice took a further £4.6 million in its second week on release but failed to get anywhere near the total of £14.6 million that it grossed last weekend.

The movie is on course to be the highest grossing film of the year so far, passing the $700 million mark in less than a fortnight. However, the movie has failed to win over the critics.

Eddie The Eagle was the highest new entry inside the top ten this week as the feel-good film opened at number two.

The movie follows the story of Eddie Edwards, who became the first man to represent Great Britain at ski jumping at the Winter Olympics. Taron Egerton takes on the central role alongside Hugh Jackman. The movie marks the return of Dexter Fletcher to the director's chair for only his third feature film.

The movie grossed over £2.7 million in its first weekend on release and has been winning over critics and audiences around the world in recent weeks.

Zootropolis continues to perform well everywhere, including in the UK. The Disney movie has been both a critical and commercial smash but did drop a single place to this week's number three.

There was also a one place drop for Kung Fu Panda 3 and My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 as they finished the weekend at four and five.

10 Cloverfield Lane fell out of the top ten for the first time as it slipped from five to number six. Madam Butterfly - Met Opera was the second and final new entry inside the top ten, as it opened at number seven.

London Has Fallen and The Boy were both down two spots this week as they fell from six and seven to eight and nine.

The Divergent Series: Allegiant has been struggled just about everywhere and slipped from last week's number eight to this week's number ten. It is unlikely that the movie will be inside the top ten next week.
