Today (April 29th, 2022), Rakuten TV (in association with Surf Channel) will see an all-new documentary land on the platform that highlights the fact that surfing is now an official Olympic sport.
Barcelona Surf Destination releases today, and follows Ítalo Ferreira, surfing’s first-ever Olympic champion.
For the first time ever, surfing is an official Olympic sport, and after the Toyko 2021 Olympic Games, the sport has its initial champion, Ferreira.
The Brazilian champion travels to the Spanish city of Barcelona with friend Álex Vilalta, a local surfer. Together, the pair will search for the best surfing spots where they can ride the waves.
Alongside Álex, and fellow professional surfer Lucía Martiño, Ferreira seeks to explore the most beautiful and practical surfing spots, such as Castelldefels and El Masnou, along with everything else the city has to offer.
Ferreira is also joined by actress, model and surf lover, Amaia Salamanca, as well as Valencian surfer and journalist, Mireia Martínez.
Barcelona Surf Destination aims to show audiences the amazing surfing traditions of the Mediterranean, as well as highlighting the most stunning, unique and iconic places on the Catalan coast.
The feature will also show viewers a reunion with friends who share a very memorable experience, and who revel in spending time with others who share their love for surfing.
The trailer for Barcelona Surf Destination showcases the incredible skills of Ferreira and his friends as they travel to and surf different parts of the world.
We see both men and women who share a love for the sport. There are professional surfers, amateur, and some who are in the middle.
There is beach after beach, and each one is just as stunning as the last. The documentary promises not only some talented surfers, but also a look at some of the world’s most stunning places to enjoy what Ferreira and his friends love the most: surfing.
Barcelona Surf Destination is available exclusively on Rakuten TV now!
