The hype game has well and truly started for what’s looking likely to be the biggest movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to-date, as the first official trailer for Avengers: Infinity War has today (November 29) been released online. You can check out the thrilling two-minute tease below:
A newly-released synopsis for the film reads: “An unprecedented cinematic journey ten years in the making and spanning the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War brings to the screen the ultimate, deadliest showdown of all time. The Avengers and their Super Hero allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.
“Anthony and Joe Russo direct the film, which is produced by Kevin Feige. Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo and Stan Lee are the executive producers. Christoper Markus & Stephen McFeely wrote the screenplay.”
Ever since the first Avengers film came to an end and fans saw Thanos brooding over a plan to take over back in 2012, there’s been a build up in all the movies up to this point that would see him serve as the big bad in Infinity War, and now the time for him to make a proper debut has arrived.
It’s interesting to note that in the film’s new synopsis, there’s a promise of the “deadliest showdown” we’ve seen so far. That reads to many as, there will be casualities on both the side of good and evil when Infinity War makes its debut.
Whilst the Avengers will of course be going up against the villain, they’ll be joined in their ranks by the likes of the Guardians of the Galaxy, Black Panther and just about every crime-fighting hero that has been brought to the big screen in the MCU. Things look like they’re about to get very chaotic indeed.
Originally, there were to be two separate films making up the story in Infinity War, with Part 2 scheduled to drop in 2019. Now, Marvel still have a film set for release in 2019, but it won’t be officially named as the second part to Infinity War. As of now, it’s still untitled. That doesn’t necessarily mean a whole new story will be told in THAT flick, however.
Avengers: Infinity War comes to cinemas across the UK on April 27, 2018 before hitting American movie theatres on May 4, 2018.
