Antonio Banderas says he it was an 'honour' to be asked to join The Expendables 3.
Banderas is one of the new faces on the cast list as he joins Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Let Li and Arnold Schwarzenegger for the third instalment.
And the actor says it was a real thrill to be part of this film, because action films have not been the focus of his acting career.
Speaking to Collider, the actor said: "Just to be invited to that group of people, for me, is beautiful, especially because I am not an action hero. That is not the only thing I did in my career.
Many people know me because of my work with Pedro Almodóvar, or theatre or films that I have done, aside from that. But, that was a part of my career that I embrace.
I loved movies like Zorro and Desperado and The 13th Warrior, and other movies like that, that I have done and that contain some action, but it’s not the only thing that I do.
But to be with all of these guys that represent a lot to the Hollywood industry, is an honour."
Banderas is not the only new face on The Expendables 3 cast list, as Harrison Ford, Wesley Snipes and Mel Gibson are also on board.
The Expendables 3 is one of a series of films we will be seeing Banderas in this year, as he has also completed work on Automata, Knight of Cups, and The 33.
The Expendables 3 is released 15th August.
