Antoine Fuqua has disappointed all of the 24 fans as he believes that the movie will not go ahead.
The director was attached to the movie last year with Kiefer Sutherland reprising the role of Jack Bauer.
But now it seems that the project - at least with Fuqua - will not be happening.
Speaking to The Playlist the director said: "Yeah, that’s not happening. I don’t think it’s gonna happen at all, definitely not with me."
"I met with Kiefer [Sutherland], Fox wanted to do it, it was a matter of his schedule before he went off to do his new show [Touch].
"I don’t think he was able to get a proper agreement with Fox. The time just passed, and I went off to go to what I was doing."
We will be seeing Fuqua back in the director's chair next months with new movie Olympus Has Fallen.
This is the first film for the director since he helmed Brooklyn's Finest and it sees him team up with Gerard Butler and Aaron Eckhart.
Olympus Has Fallen is released 17th April.
