Anthony Mackie says there was real competition on the set of Pain And Gain when it came to muscles and working out.
Mackie teams up with Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson for the Michael Bat directed movie that required the three actors to get into shape.
The trio play bodybuilders in the film and they tried to out-do each other when it came to working out and muscle size.
Speaking to the Press Association the actor said: "We pushed each other to our limits every single morning and I think that's why everybody got so big, because we were being so competitive against each other every morning.
"Every time I tried to challenge them to an arm wrestle they said no but I did beat Dwayne in a pull-up competition. They have bigger muscles but I have stronger muscles!"
The movie sees Bay back in the director's chair for the first time since Transformers: Dark of the Moon as he tackles this real life story.
Pain & Gain follows the three bodybuilders who get caught up in a kidnap and extortion scheme that goes wrong.
We have already seen Mackie star in Gangster Squad this year but he has also completed work on Bolden!, Runner Runner and A Many Splintered Thing.
Pain & Gain is released 28th August.
