Andrew Garfield has described Peter Parker as a ‘mess’ in The Amazing Spider Man 2, and says that the character will always be that way.
Garfield is set to reprise the role of Parker in the second Spider-Man film - which will be released later this year - with Marc Webb in the director’s chair.
The actor says he enjoyed exploring the relationship between Parker and Spider Man in more detail with this second film.
Speaking to Total Film, the actor said: “One of the beauties of Peter Parker is he’s always a mess. If you change that, you haven’t really got a film, a story, or a comic. So yeah, he’s still a fucking mess.
“I think what I really enjoyed exploring on this one is the dynamic between Spider-Man and Peter, and how they are really two different people at this point, and how the alter-ego has overtaken and is not allowing Peter to function.
“He’s always short-wiring in his life, whereas there’s a great relief that comes with putting on the suit and mask.”
The Amazing Spider Man 2 will come two years after the release and box office success of the first film; a movie that grossed in excess of $752 million at the global box office.
The Amazing Spider Man 2 will be the first big screen outing for Garfield since the success of the first movie. He is currently working on 99 Homes with Michael Shannon and Laura Dern.
The Amazing Spider Man 2 is released 18th April.
