Andrew Garfield says he was moved to tears when he was pitched the story for The Amazing Spider Man 2.
Garfield will be returning to the role of Peter Parker in 2014 for The Amazing Spider Man 2; a movie that will come two years after the success of The Amazing Spider Man.
And the British actors says he was really moved when he discovered what was going to happen in the film.
Speaking to Yahoo the actor said: "I sat with [writers] Bob Orci and Alex Kurtzman in a restaurant for lunch in New York, and they pitched me this movie... And I was crying.
"I was really emotionally moved by what they said to me. And I think a lot of my emotion was because these two guys love the character as much as I do."
The Amazing Spider Man 2 will see Garfield reunite with Marc Webb as he returns to the director's chair.
Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Paul Giamatti, Dane DeHaan and Chris Cooper are all also on the cast list.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be the first time that we have seen Garfield on the big screen since the success of the reboot of the franchise.
Garfield is currently working on 99 Homes with Michael Shannon and Noah Lomax.
The Amazing Spider Man 2 is released 18th April 2014.
