'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' promises the sequel will answer the mystery of Peter Parker's parents disapearance.
'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' the sequel to Mark Webb's 2010 movie will satisfy viewers' curiosity by finally revealling the whereabouts of the immediate family of Peter Parker whose alter-ego is the web-slinger. Parkers parents were forced to flee due to the sensitive nature of Richard Parker's scientific research, leaving Peter living with his Aunt May and Uncle Ben.
Screenwriter Alex Kurtzman says to Total Film: "It's interesting because the first movie asks all these questions and what I loved about it in so many ways is that it didn't answer them. Part of what we were drawn to and intrigued by was wanting to know the answers to a lot of those questions.
"The villains emerge from a lot of unanswered questions at the end of that movie and none of them are random at all, they are all tied together by a theme, an idea, and I think they come from our curiosity about what was going on in the life of Peter Parker and his parents."
The exact storyline of the follow-up film - which stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone and Jamie Foxx - is being kept under wraps for the present.
Shailene Woodley, who was due to play Mary Jane Parker - Spider-Man/Peter Parker's love interest from the original Marvel comics - recently revealed her small role had been cut from the film in order to focus on the superhero's earlier romance with Gwen Stacy (Stone).
She is not yet confirmed to reprise the part in 'The Amazing Spider-Man 3', which will finally introduce Mary Jane in this series.
Shailene said: "I think it's smart, honestly. Looking back at it, MJ was in, I think, four scenes. I shot three days and they were good scenes, but they were also like 45-second long scenes, and to introduce such a vital character like that doesn't make much sense in the end."
