Alicia Vikander cried after her Oscar win because she believes 'The Danish Girl' has helped trans people like Caitlyn Jenner.

Vikander won the Best Supporting Actress gong for her depiction of Gerda Wegener - the wife of Danish artist Lili Elbe, one of the world's first recognised recipients of transgender surgery - in the movie.
After collecting her statuette, Alicia gave an emotional interview backstage during which she discussed the "educational" impact she hopes the movie has had on society and the acceptance people like Caitlyn - who was known as Bruce Jenner before her operation - have experienced after going public with their struggle.
Speaking between tears at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, she said: "To see the cultural change since I finished the film, with Caitlyn Jenner ... it's like a social change. In the same way the film has been educational for me, I hope it can open up an even wider conversation."
The Swedish beauty earlier credited her co-star Eddie Redmayne - who played Lili - for inspiring her put in her acclaimed performance on set.
During her acceptance speech at the podium, she gushed: "I couldn't have done it without you (Eddie). You raised my game."
She also thanked her parents revealing they made her believe that "anything can happen, even though I never would have believed this".
