Alicia Vikander felt that she could 'relate' to all of the characters in The Light Between Oceans when she read the story for the first time.

Vikander is set to star in The Light Between Oceans, which is an adaptation of the book of the same name by M.L. Stedman and sees her work with filmmaker Derek Cianfrance for the first time.
Michael Fassbender and Vikander will play husband and wife Tom and Isabel Sherbourne, whose lives are changed forever when a boat washes up on shore carrying a baby.
And Vikander says that it was the fact that this story was about 'ordinary people' that really drew her to the project.
Speaking to Collider, the actress said: "I think the subject of this film. How it kind of - when I read the script and the nature of the book, it seemed - like you said - an old-fashioned story in a sense, and I think today sometimes stick with stories make you just look out for who the villain or the good guy should be, or what side you should be on of this moral issue.
"And instead I just found myself reading a story about ordinary people, common people trying to navigate and find their way of living and I found I relate to all of the characters in this story and also the subject matter of wanting to look for love, the longing for a family, the reality of going through loss.
"It was all things that I think are - you know, it's moral issues in a bigger world, but it's still what feels the most close, 'cause I think it's saying you can relate. If it's not within your closed doors, maybe it's the home next to you, or friends and family that you can relate to, and I think that that's what really drew me to the film."
2016 has been another hugely successful year for Vikander, who won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her performance in The Danish Girl alongside Eddie Redmayne.
She is one of the most in-demand stars and has already completed work on Submergence and Tulip Fever. She is set to take over the role of Lara Croft in the new Tomb Raider movie.
The Light Between Oceans is a movie that is already surrounded in Oscar whispers and we could see Vikander in the Oscar race again come the start of 2017.
The Light Between Oceans is released 4th November.
