Mia Wasikowska says that Alice is more 'sure of herself' in Alice Through the Looking Glass.
Wasikowska reprises the role of Alice for the first time since the success of Alice in Wonderland back in 2010 - a movie that went on to be a billion dollar success.
It was one of the movies that helped propel Wasikowska to global fame and she will reunite with Johnny Depp for the highly anticipated sequel - the Oscar-nominated actor is back as the Mad Hatter.
Speaking to Collider about her character, the actress said: "In the first one, she was quite uncomfortable, and a little bit awkward, and was very much finding her way.
"In this one, she's just spent the past few years travelling and being the captain of a ship, and being very productive, and feeling really empowered. She's much more sure of herself in this film."
Wasikowska and Depp are not the only familiar faces on the cast list as Helena Bonham Carter and Anne Hathaway are back while Stephen Fry, Michael Sheen and Alan Rickman have also lent their voices to the film once again.
Sacha Baron Cohen, Rhys Ifans and Andrew Scott are the big new additions to the cast list as they are set to take on the roles of Time, Zanik Hightopp, and Addison Bennett.
However, it is all change in the director's chair as James Bobin takes over from Tim Burton. This is the first film for Bobin since the success of Muppets Most Wanted in 2014.
As for Wasikowska this will be the first time that we have seen her on the big screen since Crimson Peak last autumn. She has also completed work on HHhH, which sees her star alongside Rosamund Pike, Jack O'Connell, Jack Reynor, and Jason Clarke.
Alice Through The Looking Glass is released 27th May.
